Spread the word about the online reunion. We can plan a date and time, but first let's find as many descendants as we can by commenting on this post to the blog.
My wife, Chelsea, descends Benjamin, Oscar, Lyman, Marland and Alan. We live in Priest River, ID as does Alan.
ReplyDeleteMy connection is through my father William > his mother Ada Curtis > William Rushmer Curtis > Benjamin Kingman Curtis
ReplyDeleteI am Janeen Littece Wilber, great-granddaughter of William Rushmer Curtis through his daughter and my maternal grandmother, Florence Albertha Curtis. Both my mother Ella Josephine Brown and my aunt Gladys have told me that we have Native American blood. I am not sure if this is through the Curtis line or not. Does anyone have any information regarding this?
ReplyDeleteHi Janeen, I'm also a great-granddaughter of William Rushmer Curtis and through his daughter Ada (sister of Florence). I've also heard the Curtis family had Native American blood in their line, but so far nothing in the genealogy supports that. The family story I heard was that the dark hair that was so prominent in the men was they reason they thought there was Native American blood. Benjamin was married to Sarah Lavantia Card and her ancestors are well known and documented, all entirely without Native American blood. So the story must be coming from the Curtis side of the family. Until we can identify Benjamin's parents, there is no way to verify the family story.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the Geneabloggers family. Hope you find the association fruitful; I sure do. I have found it most stimulating, especially some of the Daily Themes.
ReplyDeleteMay you keep sharing your ancestor stories!
